Johns Hopkins senior defender Mary Ann McGuire (Rumson, NJ/Rumson-Fair Haven) was a unanimous first-team selection and was also named the Conference's Player of the Year in balloting by the Conference's 11 head coaches. McGuire, a two-time All-CC first teamer, scored 17 goals and dished out two assists in league play, while also leading the Jays' defense. Sophomore Neda Dawood (Hudson, OH/Western Reserve) was a first-team selection for the attack, scoring 33-3-36 overall to lead Hopkins' offense. Junior goalkeeper Anita Patibandla (Canton, OH/Western Reserve) rounds out the Hopkins trio on the first team after posting a .698 save percentage and 4.45 goals against average in CC play. Freshman attacker Danielle Maschuci (Toms River, NJ/The Peddie School) and senior defender Lara Fisher (Brookville, NY/ Portledge) both earned second-team status. Gettysburg, the 1997 conference runner-up with a 9-1 record, placed four players on the first team. Juniors Kim Fritz (Manhasset, NY/Manhasset) and Leslie Marotz (Duxbury, MA/Lincoln-Sudbury) represented the offense, while junior Kris Sullivan (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Wood) and senior Kate Mason (Bechtelsville, PA/Boyertown) were named on defense. Fritz finished fourth in conference scoring with 28-9-37, while Marotz registered 25-3-28. Ursinus junior attacker Missy Myers (Telford, PA/Souderton) moved up from the 1996 second team after scoring 38-4-42 in conference action. Franklin & Marshall junior Kara Silberg (Baltimore, MD/Park School) and Haverford sophomore Liz Ames (Brookline, MA/Concord Academy) round out the first-team attackers. Silberg moved up from the honorable mention list of a year ago with 20-10-30 this year, while Ames earned her spot after topping the lists in conference (30-14-44) and overall scoring (50-21-71). Washington's Amy Scarlett (Lansdale, PA/ Springside) and Bryn Mawr's Farah Hilley (Yeadon, PA/Penn Wood) round out the elite squad as first-team defenders.
