JOHNS HOPKINS PLACES SEVEN ON ALL-CENTENNIAL MEN'S SOCCER TEAM
Blue Jay Junior Forward Matt Doran Named Player of the Year

LANCASTER, Pa. -- November 14, 2000 -- Johns Hopkins, which won its third Conference championship with a 9-0 record, placed seven players on the 2000 All-Centennial Conference men's soccer team which was announced today.

Junior forward Matt Doran (Stormville, NY / John Jay) was a unanimous first-team choice and also named the Conference's Player of the Year in balloting conducted by the conference's 10 head coaches. He set school and Conference records by scoring 27 goals on the season and established an NCAA Division III mark by registering a goal in 15 consecutive games. Doran also had eight assists, giving him a Conference record 62 points on the season.

The Blue Jays had three representatives on the first team, two on the second unit and two that received honorable mention. Joining Doran on the first team were juniors midfielders Aerik Williams (Columbus, OH / Columbus Academy) and Ryan Kitzen (Massapequa Park, NY / Massapequa Park). Williams, a first-team choice in 1998, had 9-18-36 on the year, tying a Conference record for assists in a season. Kitzen had 4-8-16 to earn his third straight first-team All-CC nod. He is one of seven players in Conference history to earn first-team All-Conference honors three times. Junior F Paul Galli (Roslyn, NY / Roslyn), who was fifth in the CC in scoring with 13-6-32, and sophomore back Adam Hack (Staten Island, NY / Curtis) were named to the second team, while senior M Sam Steinman (Boulder, CO / Walt Whitman, MD) and freshman GK Justin Glaser (Great Neck, NY / North) were honorable mention recipients.

Gettysburg senior M Jeremy Shapiro (Leonia, NJ / Fieldston School, NY) was a unanimous first-team choice, repeating from 1999. He had 16 goals and five assists on the season. Muhlenberg senior Dave Paxson (Lancaster, PA / Hempfield) rounds out the first-team midfield. Joining Doran on the frontline are Franklin & Marshall junior Scott Runyon (Hopatcong, NJ / Gill St. Bernards) and Washington senior Justin Daniel (Annapolis, MD / Annapolis). Runyon had 13-3-29 on the season, while Daniel had 14-5-33, closing his career with 50 goals - one of just seven Centennial players to reach that plateau.

The first-team backs are Franklin & Marshall senior Andy Traud (Allentown, PA / William Allen), Gettysburg senior Andrew Addonizio (Cutchogue, NY / Mattituck) and Bullet sophomore James Miller (Redlands, CA / Redlands). Western Maryland junior Ryan Defibaugh (Rockville, MD / Magruder) is the first-team choice at goalkeeper. He posted a 1.15 goals against mark and a 83.4 save percentage.
