GETTYSBURG PLACES FOUR ON ALL-CENTENNIAL WOMEN'S LACROSSE TEAM
Haverford Attacker Lindsey Carey Named Player of the Year

LANCASTER, Pa. -- May 10, 2000 -- Gettysburg, which won its first-ever Centennial championship with a 9-0 record, placed four players on the 2000 All-Centennial Conference Women's Lacrosse team which was announced today.

Haverford senior Lindsey Carey (Towson, MD / Towson) was a first-team selection on attack for the third straight season and was also named the Conference's Player of the Year in balloting by the 10 Conference head coaches. Carey was fifth in the Conference in scoring (59-22-81) and set Centennial career records for goals (217) and points (284).

The Bullets, who are ranked ninth nationally with a 16-2 record, had two players on the first team and two on the second unit. Senior attacker Amy Stambaugh (Lutherville, MD / Towson) and junior defender Jessica Seedorf (Port Jefferson Station, NY / Ward Melville) were named to the elite first squad, while senior Kim Fernandez (Wethersfield, CT / Kingswood-Oxford) and sophomore Becky Bucha (Waccabuc, NY / John Jay) were tabbed for the second-team attack. Stambaugh, who scored 58-19-77 this spring, is a repeater from the 1999 first team, while Seedorf and Fernandez were second-team choices last spring.

Washington, Swarthmore and Franklin & Marshall each had two representatives on the first team. The Shorewomen placed senior attacker Jordan Holt (Oakdale, CT / Western Reserve, OH), who scored 55-13-68 on the year, and senior defender Rosanne Alastra (Fort Mill, SC / Worthington, OH) on the first unit, while the Garnet had junior defender Kristen English (Norristown, PA / Plymouth Whitemarsh) and senior goalkeeper Jane Kendall (Potomac, MD / Sidwell Friends) named to the elite 12. Kendall led the CC with a 65.6 save percentage, while it is the second straight first-team nod for English. The Diplomats had senior attacker Kim Kelly (Baltimore, MD / Institute of Notre Dame) and junior defender Gen Moyer (Pottstown, PA / Owen J. Roberts) make the squad.

A pair of seniors - Ursinus' Kristen Calore (Medford Lakes, NJ / Camden Catholic) and Western Maryland's Meaghan Giorno (Baldwin, MD / John Carroll School) - round out the attack. Calore moves up from the honorable mention list in 1999, after scoring 38 goals and handing out 13 assists. Giorno had 45-27-72 on the year. Haverford senior Melicia Escobar (Southampton, PA / George School) completes the defensive unit.
