LANCASTER, Pa. -- November 10, 1999 -- Franklin & Marshall, Gettysburg and Western Maryland, which all tied for the 1999 Centennial Conference championship with 9-1 records, placed a combined nine players on the 1999 All-Centennial Volleyball teams which were announced today.
Bullet senior hitter Catherine Schott (Montrose, CO / Montrose), the first player to earn first-team All-CC honors four years in a row, was named the Conference's Player of the Year for the third consecutive season in balloting conducted by the Conference's 11 head coaches. Schott was a unanimous selection to the elite list for the second year in a row after leading the league in hitting percentage (.424) and kills per game (4.88). She is joined on the top squad by junior setter Nicole Evans (Sarasota, FL / Sarasota). Evans, a repeat honoree on the first team led the CC with 10.96 assists per game. Junior Lisa Kamin (Glen Mills, PA / Penncrest) earned a second-team nod, while sophomore Megan Wargo (New Freedom, PA / Susquehannock) was named honorable mention to round out the Bullet contingent on the team.
Two Franklin & Marshall players also appear on the first team. Senior hitter Stacy Dunchick (New Philadelphia, PA / Pottsville) made the cut for the third consecutive year. She led her team with a .308 hitting percentage and was third on the team with 2.40 kills per game. Junior setter Mary Boland (Wayne, PA / Villa Maria Academy) moved up to the first team after earning a second-team nod in 1998. She was second in the league in assists with 10.87 per game. Senior hitter Julie Simpson (Dayton, OH / Meadville, PA) was named to the second-team after averaging 3.28 kills per game, good for fifth-place in the conference.
Western Maryland junior hitter Honesty Drumgoole (Westminster, MD / Westminster) was also a unanimous first-team selection, moving up from the second team in 1998. She led the Green Terror to a share of the CC title with 3.84 kills per game and a .299 hitting percentage. Junior Brianne Bray (Dallastown, PA / Dallastown) moved to the second-team after earning first-team honors in 1998.
Muhlenberg senior Allison Verduin (Hawthorne, NJ / Hawthorne) rounds out the first team All-Conference after averaging 4.60 kills per game, coming in second behind Schott for the CC lead. She was a second-team honoree in 1998.
