LANCASTER, Pa. -- November 5, 1997 -- Gettysburg sophomore Catherine Schott (Montrose, CO/Montrose) has been named the Centennial Conference Volleyball Player of the Year in balloting conducted by the 11 head coaches.
Schott, a 5-11 middle hitter, was also named to the Conference first team for the second straight season. She is the second Gettysburg player to earn Centennial Player of the Year honors since the Conference was formed in 1993.
Schott leads all Conference players in kills (453), kills per game (4.04), hitting percentage (.482) and blocks per game (1.05). She is second in Division III in hitting percentage. Schott also set a Centennial single-season record for hitting percentage in Conference games, registering 128 kills and only 18 errors in 191 attempts for a .576 percentage.
Gettysburg won the regular season title in the Conference with a perfect 10-0 record. The Bullets are the top seed and host for the first Centennial volleyball championship tournament on Nov. 8.
