JOHNS HOPKINS PLACES SIX ON ALL-CENTENNIAL FIELD HOCKEY TEAM
Swarthmore Midfielder Kristen English Named Player of the Year

LANCASTER, Pa. -- November 9, 2000 -- Johns Hopkins, who captured its third Centennial championship, placed six players on the 2000 All-Centennial Field Hockey teams which were announced today.

Swarthmore senior midfielder Kristen English (Plymouth Meeting, PA / Plymouth Whitemarsh) was a unanimous first-team All-CC selection and was also named the Conference's Player of the Year in balloting conducted by the Conference's 10 head coaches. A two-time first-team All-Centennial selection, she had five goals and two assists on the season.

The Blue Jays won all nine Conference games, then defeated Muhlenberg, 2-0, and Swarthmore, 1-0, in the Centennial championship tournament. Hopkins had two representatives on the first team - senior forwardAmy Bruschi (Princeton Jct., NJ / West Windsor-Plainsboro) and senior midfielder Lauren Carney (Wilmington, DE / Tatnall School). Bruschi had 11 goals and a school-record 19 assists for 41 points. Carney, a unanimous selection, repeated from the 1999 first unit. She had 10-8-28 on the season. Junior forward Ashley Robbins (Newtown Square, PA / Westtown School) and senior goalkeeper Katie Reytar (Laurel, MD / Hammond) were named to the second team, while senior forward Catherine Adams (Cape Elizabeth, ME / Phillips Exeter Academy) and junior midfielder Beth Pollock (Cleveland Heights, OH / Cleveland Hts.) received honorable mention.

Joining English was junior teammate Katie Tarr (Glen Mills, PA / Garnet Valley) on the first backfield unit. Also named in the backfield was Muhlenberg senior Carole Caine (Bridgeton, NJ / Cumberland Regional), Gettysburg junior Amy Centanni (Medford, NJ / Shawnee) and Washington sophomore Megan Daily (Voorhees, NJ / Eastern). Franklin & Marshall senior Gen Moyer (Pottstown, NJ / Owen J. Roberts) joined Carney and English on the first-team midfield. Gettysburg senior Jenni White (Quakertown, PA / Pennridge) and Dickinson sophomore Katie Bean (Jaffrey, NH / Conant) round out the first-team forwards. White had 9-4-22 on the season, while Bean had 10-4-24. Washington senior Toby Wilmet (Dalton, PA / Lackawanna Trail) repeated as first-team goalkeeper, after crafting a 1.36 goals against mark.
