  • A Player's View of an ACL Injury
(April 17) - McDaniel College basketball player Katherine Restrepo has undergone two reconstructive anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) surgeries. In today's Reading Eagle, she writes about her experience, why women are at a greater risk for ACL injuries than men, and preventive measures that can be taken to help avoid the injury.

33 Named to Winter Academic Honor Roll
(April 2) - Two-hundred thirty-four students from seven different winter sports, including 33 women's basketball players, have been named to the Centennial Conference Winter Academic Honor Roll. To be nominated for the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll, a student must meet the following criteria: (a) participates in at least 50 percent of contests, matches or meets, or in the Conference varsity championship in swimming, indoor track & field or wrestling; (b) a sophomore or higher in class standing; (c) cumulative GPA of 3.40 or higher. Five students also received All-Conference recognition during the season and one - Swarthmore's Kathryn Stockbower - was honored as Player of the Year.

    Boyle, Stockbower Named WBCA All-Region
(March 10) - The Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA), in cooperation with State Farm, announced the finalists for the 2009 State Farm Coaches' All-America Basketball Team for the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III. The 42 finalists, who are voted upon by WBCA member coaches in each of the eight WBCA geographical regions, are now in the running for selection to the 10-member State Farm Coaches' All-America Team. Muhlenberg senior Lauren Boyle and Swarthmore sophomore Kathryn Stockbower were two of the five representatives from Region 4.

    Perfection Plus for Muhlenberg Women
(March 2) - "Nothing beats experience when it comes to the postseason. Since this was their third time around, Muhlenberg women's basketball seniors Erin McSherry and Kaitlin Strumph knew exactly how to prepare for the Centennial Conference championship game. So on the morning of the Mules' encounter with Johns Hopkins, the two players made a run to the local store to buy red and gray tinsel. Later that afternoon, all of their teammates, as well as the entire floor of Memorial Hall, was littered with the festive decoration as Muhlenberg celebrated its third CC championship in four years with a 76-55 win against Johns Hopkins."
