    Centennial Championship Seeding Procedure
    I. All seeds other than the final seed will be determined by applying the following criteria in the order listed:

    a) Head-to-Head Centennial Conference competition among tied teams;
    b) Strength of schedule criteria as determined by the NCAA quality of wins index used during the 2007 season (see p. 60 of CC Manual);
    c) Coin Flip by the Executive Director;
    d) Once the above criteria have been used to reduce the number of tied teams, they will be used again on the teams that remain tied.

    II. Ties for the final playoff seed will be determined by applying the following criteria in the order listed:

    a) Head-to-Head Centennial Conference competition among tied teams;
    b) Team with the best record vs. teams in descending order of standing (1st place, 2nd, etc.). It should be noted that if 1(c) above had to be used to break a tie between teams, those teams will be considered as tied for purposes of applying this tie-breaker;
    c) Once the above criteria have been used to reduce the number of tied teams, they will be used again on the teams that remain tied;
    d) If the application of II(a), II(b) and II(c) does not determine the final seed for the playoffs, a tie-breaker game will be played. The host for the game will be determined through a coin flip by the Executive Director. It should be noted that, under the provisions of criteria II, a tie-breaker game would only be played if the teams had split their head-to-head games, and the tied teams' records were identical against every other team in the Conference. The rationale of II(d) is that a tie-breaker game should be held if, and only if, the only other possible way to determine the final playoff team was a coin flip.

    Incomplete Tournament. If the championship tournament cannot be completed and each team has completed at least one tournament contest, the highest remaining seed will be the Conference's champion and automatic qualifier to the NCAA tournament. Otherwise, the top seed as determined by the regular season will receive the automatic qualifier.

    Hosting Two Tournaments. If one school hosts both basketball tournaments ... in odd-numbered years (2009), the men will play both semifinals and championship game first (example: 12 and 2 p.m.) and the women will play second (example: 4:30 and 6:30). In even-numbered years, the women will play both semifinals and championship game first (example: 12 and 2 p.m.) and the men will play second (example: 4:30 and 6:30).

    Hosting Two First Round Games. The team traveling the farthest plays the second game on that day. The Conference Office will use the mileage matrix on page 142 of the Centennial Manual.

    Ticket Prices. An admission charge will be assessed at each round of the Conference tournament, including tie-breaker games.

    There are no complimentary tickets for the Conference basketball championship, though an insitution may purchase tickets for special guests and friends of the institution. Contact the Conference Office if your institution wishes to do so. Up to 12 cheerleaders and 25 band members will be admitted free, provided these groups announce their intention to attend the contest with the Conference Executive Director and the host Director of Athletics.
