If a tournament cannot be completed by the end of the
day on November 8, and each team has completed at least one tournament contest,
the highest remaining seed will be the Conference's champion and automatic
qualifier to the NCAA tournament. Otherwise, the top seed as determined by the
regular season will receive the automatic qualifier.
A conference call will be conducted at 11 a.m. on
Monday, November 2, to review administration for the championship. Head coaches, athletic administrators
and SIDs are requested to participate.
Bench
Area/Assignments
The host institution - or the higher seed at a neutral
site - is the designated home team and will wear the light-colored (white)
jerseys. The designated home team
will use the host institution's bench.
Game Ball
The official game ball for Centennial Conference matches
shall be the official NCAA ball for the Division III championship (Molten Super
Touch IV58L-N).
Officials
The Conference Office will secure officials for each
match of the Conference playoffs. Members of the coaching staff or other
representatives of participating institutions shall not make public statements
critical of officiating in any Centennial Conference playoff game. The first and second referee should
receive $110 per match while the alternate referees should receive $50 per
match, as per NCAA regionals.
Opening Ceremonies
For
each match, the host institution should supply marshall
music conducive to teams marching in.
1. Following completion of
the match protocol, the parade of players and officials will take place as
follows:
a. Line-up. Players,
referees, and the line judges will leave the court through the playersŐ
entrance and line up as follows [Note: Coaches may remain at team bench]: the
first referee, followed by the second referee, the alternate referee, and the
line judges, the team that will play on the side of the net farthest from the
entrance, and finally, the other team. It is suggested that teams line-up with
the team captain(s) first followed by the rest of the team in numerical order
by uniform number.
b. Public Address
Announcer -- "Good [afternoon/evening] ladies and gentlemen and welcome to
the 2009 Centennial Conference Volleyball Championship. Today's [1st round -
semifinal - championship] game is between <school name> and <school
name>. And now let's meet the
teams.Ó
c. March. To the accompaniment
of marshall music, the referees, line judges and
players will enter in line. The referees and other officials will march along
the outside of the court by the most direct route to a place in front of the
refereeŐs stand and face the court. The referees will pass under the net to a
spot immediately beyond the net. The line judges will not pass under the net,
remaining on the ŇnearÓ side of the net. The team going to the farthest side of
the court will pass along the outside of the court opposite from the referees
and line up on the back line facing the court with the captain(s) at the right
back corner. The opposing team will go directly to the other back line and line
up facing the court with the captain(s) at the right back corner.
2. The national anthem will be
played prior to the first match each day, after the teams are on the court. All
players, coaches and officials are introduced at this time.
3. After the introduction, the
referee signals the team captains to come to the net and shake hands, followed
immediately by the rest of the players. THERE WILL BE NO EXCHANGE OF TOKENS.
4. The floor is cleared and the
starting players immediately return to the floor.
5. Play commences.
