Centennial Conference Wrestling Championship Preview

Saturday, February 19, 2005

Memorial Hall, Muhlenberg College, Allentown, Pa.

LANCASTER, Pa. --It’s a brand new day for wrestling in the Centennial Conference, as the new and improved eight-team Conference championship meet takes place on Saturday, Feb. 19, at Memorial Hall on the campus of Muhlenberg College.

Two-time defending champion Ursinus will take on long-time rivals Gettysburg, Johns Hopkins, McDaniel, Muhlenberg and Washington and Lee, along with first-time members Kings Point and Stevens.  And if the regular season is any indication, the 12th annual Centennial championships may be the best ever.

Ursinus finished the regular season with a perfect 17-0 dual record and a No. 23 national ranking.  The Bears will face stiff challenges from Kings Point, who posted a 12-5 mark this winter, and McDaniel.  The other five teams may not be able to contend for the team title, but may have individuals who return home to campus with gold medals.
