Weekly Honor Roll

Michele Tantoco, Bryn Mawr (Sr, Bryan, OH / Culver Academies, IN) - Tantoco finished 32nd out of 114 runners at the Seven Sisters Championship with a time of 20:27. She was Bryn Mawr's second top finisher.

Jonathan Catlett, Gettysburg (N. Chatham, NY / Albany Academy) - Catlett continued his reign at the top of the Gettysburg finishers, placing 22nd overall with a 27:18.32 at the Gettysburg Invitational. His time helped the Bullets finish fifth in a field of 22 schools.

Kristin Roberts, Gettysburg (Reading, PA / Exeter) - Roberts posted team-best finishes at the Gettysburg Invitational on Saturday, finishing 21st in the race with a 19:11.99. Roberts, who was Gettysburg's top runner last year, garnered top Bullet honors for the first time this year to help Gettysburg finish sixth in a field of 22 schools.

Joe McCool, Haverford (Sr, Philadelphia, PA / St. Joseph Prep) - McCool was one of the top finishers in the Fords' win at Gettysburg.

Prentiss Clark, Haverford (Fr, Chevy Chase, MD / Bethesda-Chevy Chase) - Clark finished second on the team and fourth overall at Gettysburg.

Loring Pfeiffer, Swarthmore (Jr, Fort Collins, CO / Rocky Mountain) - Pfeiffer recorded a personal-best time of 21:06.77 at the Seven Sisters Championship.


Around the Conference

Eighth Annual Championship on Saturday at Western Maryland: The eighth annual Centennial Conference cross country championships will be held on Saturday, October 28, at Western Maryland College. The men's race kicks off the day at 11 a.m., while the women's competition follows at noon. Click here for a preview.

Bryn Mawr: Bryn Mawr finished seventh at the Seven Sisters Championship hosted by Vassar College. The team tallied 164 points. Junior Krissy Flak (Duluth, MN / Marshall School) and senior Michele Tantoco (Bryan, OH / Culver Academies, IN) will lead the team at the Centennial meet.

Dickinson: The Red Devils were idle last week. Alex Forte (Easton, CT / Joel Barlow), Rachel Leverenz (Accident, MD / Northern) and Sian Fernas (Atco, NJ / Paul VI) will lead the women at the Centennial championship, while Brad Haywood (Rowayton, CT / Fairfield Prep), Nick Grover (Bradford Woods, PA / N. Allegheny) and Nate Boice (Millbrook, NY / Millbrook) head the men's contingent.

Franklin & Marshall: The Diplomats were idle last week. Runners to watch at the Centennial meet include senior Jordan Romano (West Chester, PA / Henderson) for the men and sophomore Emily Hughes (Springfield, VT / Springfield) for the women.

Gettysburg: Kristin Roberts (Reading, PA /Exeter) finished 21st in the Gettysburg Invitational with a 19:11.99 to garner top Bullet honors for the first time this year. Lauren Davis (Mt. Holly, NJ / Rancocas Valley Regional) was the second Bullet to cross the finish line, running 19:21.55, while Megan McGolrick (Gaithersburg, MD / Damascus) finished third with 19:22.43. Jonathan Catlett (North Chatham, NY / Albany Academy) continued hie reign at the top of the Gettysburg finishers, placing 22nd overall with a 27:18.32. Jason Rose (Hornell, NY / Hornell) finished at the 29th spot with 27:49.35 while Evan Merkhofer (Mt. Laurel, NJ / Lenape) took the Bullet bronze position with a 43rd place, 28:04.89 run.

Haverford: Haverford won two meets last week, as the men captured the Gettysburg Invitational and the women took first at the Seven Sisters championship. Junior Jim Steinemann (Morristown, NJ / Delbarton School) and seniors Joe McCool (Philadelphia, PA / St. Joseph's Prep) and Garth Terry (Sykesville, MD / McDonogh School) led the Ford men past several NCAA Division II opponents. Sophomore Kristen Wilson (Danvers, MA / Danvers), first-year Prentiss Clark (Chevy Chase, MD / Bethesda-Chevy Chase), senior Samantha Tubman, soph Courtney Fairbanks (Eugene, OR / South Eugene) and frosh Abigail Noble (Auburndale, MA / Newton North) finished 2-4-9-11-12 for the women.

Johns Hopkins: The Blue Jay men and women prepped for the upcoming Conference championships by finishing 13th and ninth at the Gettysburg Invitational. Senior Drew Kitchen (Fort Wayne, IN / Homestead) was the Blue Jays top finisher for the fifth time in six meets. Kitchen took 27th-place with a time of 27:41, and now has five of the top nine times this year for JHU. Sophomore John Onofrey continues to run strong as he finished in 41st-place at a 28:03 pace. Onofrey has two of the top four times this season for Hopkins. Senior Heather Relyea (Niskayuna, NY / Schenectady) led the Blue Jays for the second consecutive meet as she finished in 32nd-place with a time of 19:35. Her time is the fastest for Hopkins this year. Sophomore Hilary Knipe was the next to finish for JHU as she ran at a 20:01 pace in 48th-place, and she was followed closely by junior Mary Stahley (Rutherford, NJ / Queen of Peace) in 51st-place with a time of 20:07.

Muhlenberg: In their final tuneup for the Centennial Conference Championships, the men went 0-3 and the women went 1-2 in a short-distance quad meet at West Chester. The men ran 3 miles and the women 2.5. For the men, junior Will Elson (Nyack, NY / Saddle River Day School, NJ) and sophomore Brendan Gallagher (Brookfield, CT / Brookfield) placed third and fourth, respectively. The women, who defeated Division II East Stroudsburg, were led by freshman Erica Norey (New City, NY / Clarkstown North) in 10th place.

Swarthmore: The Garnet women finished sixth at the Seven Sisters championship at Vassar, but senior Joko Agunloye (Brooklyn, NY / Hillcrest) won her second individual crown. She covered the three-mile course in 18:09.53. Alissa Parmelee (Rockville, MD / Walter Johnson) and Christen Lungren (Anacortes, WA / Anacortes) finished 26th and 27th. The Garnet men were idle last week. Keep an eye on senior Marc Jeuland (Chicago, IL / Lincoln Park) who looks to become the first Swat runner to win the Centennial championship.

Ursinus: The Ursinus men's and women's cross-country teams competed at the Gettysburg Invitational this weekend. In men's action, Brian Penderghest (Harleysville, PA / Souderton) placed 32nd (27:52.15). On the women's side, the Bears placed 15th as a team. Lindsey Glah (Pottstown, PA / Owen J. Roberts) finished 26th (19:25.39) to pace Ursinus.

Western Maryland: The Green Terror was idle last week. The WMC women will look to defend their 1999 Centennial title behind Jill Krebs (New Windsor, MD / South Carroll) and Diana Pool (New Windsor, MD / Westminster). The men will look to freshman Jimmy Thayer (Woodbridge, VA / Potomac) in their quest to crack the top five.
