  • National Champion Diplomats Place Three on
    IWLCA All-America First Team

(May 28) - To the victors go the spoils. National champion Franklin & Marshall placed three players on the first team and six overall to the 2009 Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) All-America team. Sarah Meisenberg, Jen Pritchard and Shannon Summers were all tabbed to the first unit, while Blake Hargest received a second-team nod and Ashley Bevington and Lidia Sanza earned third-team recognition. Gettysburg's Nina Emala and Hollis Stahl were also named to the first team, while Dickinson's Ana Sokol garnered a second-team selection.

    NATIONAL CHAMPIONS!
Diplomats Capture D-III Women's Lacrosse Title

(May 17) - "62 seconds away from defeat, Franklin & Marshall's Cat Serpe streaked into the Salisbury eight-meter fan and dumped the ball inside of the right post. Serpe's shot salvaged the season and sent the 2009 NCAA Division III National Championships into overtime. 162 seconds later, Blake Hargest cashed in on the second life to deliver the Diplomats (21-1) an 11-10 win over the Sea Gulls (20-2) and their second NCAA Championship in three years."

    Salisbury Rallies Past Gettysburg, 11-10
(May 17) - "The NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse Tournament couldn't ask for a better opening semifinal game than the performance put on by Gettysburg College and Salisbury University on Saturday, May 16, at Donald J. Kerr Stadium. The Sea Gulls tallied the contest's last two goals and survived a last-second shot by the Bullets that clanged off the post to slip by 11-10 and advance to Sunday's national title game."

40 Named to Spring Academic Honor Roll
(May 12) - Three-hundred twenty-five students, including 40 lacrosse players, have been named to the Centennial Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll for their performance in the classroom and the field of play. To be nominated for the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll, a student must meet the following criteria: (a) participates in at least 50 percent of contests, matches or meets, or in the Conference varsity championship in golf or outdoor track & field; (b) a sophomore or higher in class standing; (c) cumulative GPA of 3.40 or higher. Fifty-one students also received All-Centennial recognition this spring, while five were named Players of the Year.

    "Three-Peat" for Diplomats
(April 26) - "Blake Hargest scored four goals and assisted on another to lead #2 Franklin & Marshall to a 14-7 win over #4 Gettysburg in the Centennial Conference (CC) women's lacrosse championship final on Sunday. The victory marked the third championship for the Diplomats (17-1) in as many seasons. All three championship wins came against the Bullets (14-3)."

Diplomats Place Four on All-CC First Team; Gettysburg's Hollis Stahl Named Player of Year
(April 23) - Two-time defending champion Franklin & Marshall placed four players on the first team as the 2009 All-Centennial Conference team was released Thursday. Seniors Jen Pritchard and Sarah Meisenberg became the 12th and 13th players in CC history to earn first-team All-Centennial honors three times. Gettysburg junior midfielder Hollis Stahl was selected as the Player of the Year, while Haverford first-year coach Julie Shaner Young was named the Coach of the Year.
