Weekly Release #6
(October 6) - Swarthmore midfielder Yoi Tibbetts, Dickinson defender
Mike O'Brien and Swarthmore defender Jason Thrope were selected as the
Conference's Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week. Tibbetts
scored the game-winning goals in both matches last week as the Garnet
defeated Washington, 4-1, and Gettysburg, 3-0. The two tallies were his
first two goals of the season. O'Brien anchored a strong defensive
effort as the Red Devils blanked Muhlenberg, 1-0, and Ursinus, 4-0. The
Dickinson defense allowed just nine shots on goal in the two victories.
Thrope was all over the field in a 2-0 week for the Garnet. He played
right back in the 4-1 win vs. Washington, clearing a certain score off
the goal line in the first half. Thrope made an emergency start in goal
against Gettysburg - his first career start in net - and made two saves
in registering a 3-0 shutout.
