  • 35 Named to Spring Academic Honor Roll
(May 12) - Three-hundred twenty-five students, including 35 softball players, have been named to the Centennial Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll for their performance in the classroom and the field of play. To be nominated for the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll, a student must meet the following criteria: (a) participates in at least 50 percent of contests, matches or meets, or in the Conference varsity championship in golf or outdoor track & field; (b) a sophomore or higher in class standing; (c) cumulative GPA of 3.40 or higher. Fifty-one students also received All-Centennial recognition this spring, while five were named Players of the Year, including Gettysburg's Erin Ober and Ursinus' Lauren Davis.

    Muhlenberg Ousted in NCAA Softball
(May 11) - The Muhlenberg softball team was eliminated from the NCAA Division III regional tournament Friday after a pair of losses. The Mules dropped a 9-2 decision to William Paterson and a 4-1 contest to Farmingdale State.

Ober, Davis Earn First-Team All-Region Honors
(May 11) - Gettysburg OF Erin Ober and Ursinus P Lauren Davis were named to the NFCA All-East Region first team recently. Ober, the 2009 Centennial Player of the Year, hit .402 on the season with six homers and 31 RBI. Davis, the 2009 Conference Pitcher of the Year, was an at-large selection after posting a 26-9 record with 316 strikeouts in 236 innings. F&M's Lauren Incorvaia was named to the second team, while Muhlenberg C RiRi Ferrigno was a third-team selection.

    Muhlenberg Reigns as Centennial Champion
(May 3) - "The Muhlenberg softball team had everything fall into place - most notably a ton of raindrops - and claimed the 2009 Centennial Conference championship. The Mules had a 1-0 lead after four innings of their elimination game against Gettysburg when play was halted due to rain. The game had been played in a light to steady rain, but as the day wore on the field conditions worsened and the ball became harder to grip. After waiting more than an hour without a break in the rain, game officials determined that the field could not be restored to playable condition in time to complete the game and the rest of the tournament. By CC policy, the championship and automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament went to the highest remaining seed in the tournament, which was second-seeded Muhlenberg. The top seed, Ursinus, was eliminated on the first day after losing to Haverford and Gettysburg."

Ober, Davis Named Player, Pitcher of the Year on 2009 All-Conference Team
(April 30) - Gettysburg's Erin Ober and Ursinus' Lauren Davis were honored as the Player and Pitcher of the Year as the 2009 All-Centennial softball team was announced today. Ober is hitting .410 on the season with six homers and 31 RBI to go along with 14 stolen bases. Davis leads the CC with a 26-7 record, an 0.75 ERA and 302 strikeouts in 223 innings. Haverford led all Conference teams with three first-team selections.
