McDonough Named AFCA First-Team All-American
Senior Patrick McDonough of the Muhlenberg football team added another honor to his already long list of accomplishments. The inside linebacker was named to the American Football Coaches Association Division III All-America Team.

Ursinus Breaks Ground on Patterson Field Turf Project
Ursinus College broke ground on Thursday afternoon, March 17, 2011, for the renovation of Patterson Field. When completed in August, the field will provide a start-of-the-art facility for the Ursinus College football, track and field, lacrosse and soccer teams.

Felus Resigns at Juniata; Tim Launtz Named Head Coach
Juniata College head football coach Carmen Felus announced his resignation Monday, to accept a coaching position as co-offensive coordinator at the University of Tennessee at Martin. Longtime assistant Tim Launtz, a 1980 Juniata graduate, will take over the program as head coach.

Quarterbacks ruled the day in the ECAC Southwest Bowl, combining for 799 yards and 10 touchdowns. Washington & Jefferson's Gino Rometo passed for 377 yards and five touchdowns on 24 completions to lead the Presidents (9-2) to a 54-41 win over Franklin & Marshall.

Tomlin Passes Hopkins Past LVC
Two years ago, Johns Hopkins quarterback Hewitt Tomlin was forced to miss the Blue Jays’ ECAC Bowl Game after suffering an injury in the regular season finale. On Saturday, he more than made up for missing that game as he threw for a career-high 443 yards and four touchdowns to fuel a 44-14 win over Lebanon Valley in the ECAC South Atlantic Bowl at Homewood Field.

Hopkins Grabs Share of Title
Junior quarterback Hewitt Tomlin threw for 340 yards and one touchdown and host Johns Hopkins outscored visiting McDaniel 17-0 in the second quarter to fuel a 34-10 victory at Homewood Field Saturday afternoon in the regular season finale for both teams. The win – coupled with a Muhlenberg loss at Moravian today – gives the Blue Jays a share the Centennial Conference title, a title they share with Muhlenberg and Ursinus.

Hounds Block Mules' Outright Bid
Junior defensive back David Wacker blocked a third quarter field goal attempt and junior defensive lineman Patrick Gordon blocked an extra-point with 1:05 to play to help Moravian to a 14-13 victory over Muhlenberg. The Mule loss, combined with wins by Hopkins and Ursinus, means a three-way tie for the Centennial title.

Bears Down Devils for Piece of Crown
In their final game of the 2010 season, the Ursinus College football team went out with a bang as the Bears (8-2, 7-2 Centennial) defeated Dickinson (3-7, 3-6 Centennial) 41-21 on Saturday afternoon. While the outlook for an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament looks bleak, the Bears do have something to remember the 2010 season by as by virtue of a Moravian win over Muhlenberg, the Bears will share the Centennial title with Muhlenberg and Johns Hopkins.

Rollins rushed for 294 yards and scored a touchdown vs. Gettysburg. Deighan accounted for four touchdowns in the Mules' NCAA berth-clinching win vs. Ursinus. Cobb (pictured) had 4.5 sacks and a forced a fumble against the Bears, while Bennett returned a blocked field goal attempt for a touchdown.

Hopkins Rallies Past F&M
Junior Hewitt Tomlin threw a 61-yard touchdown pass to classmate Sam Wernick on Johns Hopkins' first possession of the second half to jump-start a game-ending 17-0 run that lifted the Blue Jays to a 24-9 win over Franklin & Marshall at Sponaugle-Williamson Field Saturday afternoon. The win is the third straight for Johns Hopkins, which improves to 6-3 overall and 6-2 in the Centennial Conference.

Woody Butler (Smithsburg, Md. / Middletown) made his only catch of the game count most, catching a 10-yard touchdown from Tom Massucci (Tabernacle, N.J. / Seneca) to cap a Homecoming thriller and lift McDaniel to a 36-30 Centennial Conference (CC) football three-overtime victory over Gettysburg on Saturday.

So Dan Deighan can beat you running the ball, throwing the ball and kicking the ball. The sophomore quarterback accounted for all four touchdowns, and his quick kick helped the defense preserve the lead, as the Muhlenberg football team defeated Ursinus, 27-20, in a showdown between the two teams that came in tied for first in the Centennial Conference.

Gettysburg (3-3, 2-3 CC), which won for the second game in a row, scored on six straight drives and eight out of nine possessions after falling behind 7-0."

Tegan's scored snapped a 17-17 tie just 57 seconds after the Diplomats had tied the game on a field goal."

But the best defense in this game belonged to the visiting team. The Mules allowed only 143 total yards and seven first downs in winning their fifth straight game, 29-0."

"Ursinus College junior wide receiver Nick Giarratano (Wapwallopen, Pa. / Crestwood) caught two touchdown passes as the Bears (6-0, 5-0 Centennial) defeated Johns Hopkins (3-3, 3-2 Centennial) 26-17 on Saturday afternoon in a swirling wind at Patterson Field. The win keeps Ursinus in a first-place tie with Muhlenberg who both sit atop the conference with equal 5-0 marks."

DeSalva and Cahill each scored three touchdowns in their team's respective victories over Moravian and Susquehanna. White had seven tackles, forced and recovered a fumble and picked off a pass vs. the Crusaders. Nadell (pictured) returned a kickoff 80 yards for a touchdown against Juniata.

Gettysburg Runs Past Moravian, 33-21
"Gettysburg rushed for 270 yards and scored all four of its touchdowns on the ground as the Bullets pulled away late to earn their first home and Centennial Conference victory of the season, defeating Moravian College 33-21 Saturday afternoon at Shirk Field at Musselman Stadium. Gettysburg (2-3, 1-3 CC), which never trailed after jumping to a 16-0 lead, received 64 rushing yards and a career-high three touchdowns from senior tailback Anthony DeSalva while senior tailback Jamel Mutunga led all players with 82 yards rushing and one touchdown."

"Matt Emerson (Moorestown, N.J. / Moorestown) recovered a blocked punt for a touchdown 1:52 into the game to set the tone for McDaniel in a 35-0 Centennial Conference (CC) football victory over Susquehanna on Saturday. Matt Cahill (Broomall, Pa. / Haverford Twp.) had three of his four receptions go for touchdowns to give the Green Terror (4-1, 3-1 CC) its first receiver with at least three touchdowns in a game since Teron Powell caught four scores against the Crusaders (1-5, 1-5 CC) on Sept. 8, 2001."

Tomlin Passes Jays Past Dickinson, 44-10
"Johns Hopkins junior quarterback Hewitt Tomlin threw for 271 yards and a career-high four touchdowns and the Blue Jays scored on eight of their 12 possessions in a 44-10 victory over visiting Dickinson at Homewood Field Friday night. Johns Hopkins, which improved to 3-2 overall and 3-1 in the Centennial, had six scoring drives of 50 yards or more in the victory. Dickinson, which managed just 191 yards of total offense, slips to 1-4 overall and 1-3 in the Centennial."
