Yonda averaged 24.0 points in just 24.5 minutes per game in leading Swarthmore to the Garnet Holiday Tournament title. He shot 68.2 percent from the floor, including 50 percent from beyond the arc, and made all 12 free throw attempts. Yonda also collected 5.5 rebounds per game and was named to the All-Tournament team.

Centennial Notebook

Swarthmore ran its winning streak to nine games with victories over Earlham and Wells in the Garnet Holiday Tournament. Sophomore G Zack Yonda (Berwyn, Pa.) and F Robbie Walsh (Summit, N.J.) were named to the All-Tournament team. They combined for 26 of Swarthmore’s first 28 points in the 103-66 title-game win vs. Wells. It is the first time that the Garnet surpassed the century mark since 2004. Senior Sean Thaxter (Cobleskill, N.Y.) tallied a career-best 11 markers vs. Earlham.

Ursinus junior G Matt Knowles (Waverly, Pa.) poured in a career-high 26 points in the Bears’ 73-66 loss at Pennsylvania. He made 10-of-18 shots from the field with five three-pointers to go along with six rebounds and two assists. The seven-point defeat is the third closest in the Centennial’s 80 games vs. Division I opposition. The Centennial is 3-77 all-time vs. D-I opponents with its last victory coming during the 2004-05 season as Gettysburg defeated Navy, 75-69.

Gettysburg split its two games at the Hood Tournament, falling to Stockton but rebounding to defeat Chatham in the consolation game. Junior G Pete Christ (Pittstown, N.J.) tallied a career-high 23 points vs. Chatham. 

Franklin & Marshall head coach Glenn Robinson goes for career win #898 when the Diplomats travel to Pittsburgh on Dec. 30 to take on Carnegie Mellon.
