MAHWAH, N.J. – Franklin & Marshall fell 72-62 to Ramapo in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament Friday evening. The Roadrunners advanced to tomorrow's round with the win and will face M.I.T. in the Elite 8. The loss ends F&M's season with a 22-7 record, the 28th time the Diplomats have finished with 20 or more victories. 

Ramapo took an early 8-2 lead three minutes into the game and F&M countered by outscoring the Roadrunners 8-4 over the next five minutes to come within two, 12-10, at 12:09. Ramapo had a 22-17 edge at 9:21 before Ignas Slyka and Matthew Tate hit back-to-back triples to give F&M a one-point edge, 23-22, with 7:31 remaining the first.

Five straight from Ramapo put the host up four, but F&M countered with a 7-0 run and took a 30-27 lead at 3:45. The Diplomats led 32-29 at 1:50, but the Roadrunner closed out the half with six straight and took a 35-32 lead into the break.

The Roadrunners increased their lead to six, 44-38, early in the second and went ahead 10, 52-43, midway through the half. F&M put together a 7-2 spurt to come within five, and stayed within three possessions as Ramapo held a 61-53 lead at 4:11.

Tate led F&M on a 7-1 run, scoring all seven points for F&M, to bring the Diplomats within two, 62-60, at 1:54. Ramapo went ahead four after scoring two from the line and the Roadrunners finished the game hitting 10-of-12 from the stripe in the final 1:21 to secure the win.

Matthew Tate led all scorers with 24 points, hitting 5-of-12 from behind the arc. Brandon Federici netted 14 points and Ignas Slyka ended with 12. J.C. McGrath netted eight and hauled in seven boards for F&M.

Ramapo outshot F&M 45-32-percent and held a 40-37 edge on the glass.
