Kosmalski Selected as NABC National Coach of the Year

KANSAS CITY, Mo.—Head coach Landry Kosmalski of No. 1 Swarthmore College Men's Basketball is the 2019-20 National Coach of the Year, the National Association of Basketball Coaches announced on Friday.

Kosmalski is the first men's basketball coach in Centennial Conference history to ever earn this distinction.

The Garnet went the entire season ranked first overall in the nation by the D3hoops.com poll and completed a perfect regular season. Swarthmore finished the season 28-1 and had advanced to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen when the tournament was halted.

Kosmalski, in eight seasons at Swarthmore, has posted a record of 153-74 (.674 win percentage). His win percentage has increased each season, and in each of the past five seasons, the team has won at least 22 games. Prior to Kosmalski's arrival at Swarthmore, the Garnet had never won more than 17 games in a season nor appeared in an NCAA Tournament game.

The Garnet head coach has also been honored as the District/Region Coach of the Year three times and the Centennial Coach of the Year four times.
