Bullets Take Third at Invitational
Senior George Whitelaw earned his second consecutive second-place finish to lead the Gettysburg College men's golf team to a third-place showing among 10 teams at the Gettysburg Fall Invitational Thursday afternoon at The Bridges Golf Club.
The Bullets shot a season-best 317 to finish two strokes behind Penn State-Harrisburg and seven strokes behind winner Marymount University, which was led by medalist John Goulding's three-under-par 69.
Whitelaw tied the second-best score of his collegiate career and tied for second with a three-over 75. However, he was given the second-place trophy by virtue of the third handicap of a card comparison. In his last outing, Whitelaw tied for second at the Franklin & Marshall Invitational with a career-low 72.
Competing in his third collegiate round, freshman Zak Kennedy tied for sixth among 55 golfers with a season-best 76, taking five strokes off his previous best.
Dominic Seelig (Reading, Pa./Exeter Twp.) fired a 76 to finish tied for fourth and lead McDaniel to a fifth-place finish at the Gettysburg Fall Invitational in men's golf action on Thursday.
The Green Terror's B-Team fired a combined 324 in its second tournament in a week, playing the rescheduled Gettysburg Invitational at the Bridges Golf Club.
