The 2019 Centennial Conference men's golf championship will begin Friday afternoon at Brookside Country Club in Macungie, Pa. This marks the second-straight year the 54-hole tournament will be hosted by Muhlenberg at the par-71, 6,534-yard layout at Brookside CC. Franklin & Marshall captured its fifth straight and 10th overall conference crown at last year's event.
Already boasting the longest winning streak in conference history, the Diplomats will aim for six straight this weekend. F&M boasts a 301.1 team scoring average entering this weekend, ranking just behind Gettysburg (300.9) on the year. The Bullets, seeking their first conference crown since 2002, enter the championship red-hot with three consecutive tournament championships to conclude regular season competition. McDaniel (306.26) and Swarthmore (310.09) have also posted strong team scoring averages this year and will likely be in the mix for the team title. Dickinson (318.4), Muhlenberg (324.56), and Ursinus (330.4) round out the team averages entering this weekend.
Individually, five All-Centennial performers return to the field including two-time All-CC honorees in Swarthmore's Vasmi Damerla (T-2nd in 2017, T-2nd & Co-ROY in 2016) and Dan Altieri (3rd in 2018, 4th in 2017). Other returning All-Centennial performers include F&M's Justin Lankler (4th in 2018) along with Gettysburg's Dane Sethre-Hofstad (5th in 2018) and Danny Harcourt (T-2nd & Co-ROY in 2016).
Gettysburg's Harcourt leads the Centennial in scoring average at 72.4, including four individual victories. Close behind is F&M's Jared Berlin with a 72.8 scoring average and two individual wins. F&M's Seiichiro Nakai (75.4), Gettysburg's Sethre-Hofstad (74.4), and Swarthmore's Altieri (75.6) also rank in the top-five in scoring average this season.
This weekend's team champion will earn the Centennial Conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Championships, set for May 14-17 at Keene Trace Golf Club in Nicholasville, Ky.
