Wednesday's Men's Soccer Recap

Dickinson 6, Washington & Jefferson 1
The Dickinson College men's soccer team registered its first win of the season, rolling past Washington & Jefferson, 6-1, on Wednesday. The Red Devils tallied four goals in the first half and tacked on a pair in the second to improve to 1-0-2 on the season. Sophomore Javier Mena (San Salvador, El Salvador / American School) struck for three goals on the night.

 

Swarthmore 3, Arcadia 0
Freshman Michael Stewart scored the first two goals of his collegiate career - one in the 40th minute and one in the 90th - and senior David Sterngold scored his team-leading third goal of the season as the No. 8 Swarthmore College men's soccer team (3-0) took care of business and defeated visiting Arcadia 3-0 on Wednesday evening from Clothier Field Stadium. Sterngold also added an assist on Sterwart's first goal, as did goalkeeper David D'Annunzio for his booming kick that set up the play. Outside of his assist, D'Annunzio finished the day with two saves for his second clean sheet of the early season.

 

Ursinus 2, Immaculata 0
Ursinus erupted for two goals in the second half as the Bears (1-1) defeated Immaculata (0-4) 2-0 Wednesday afternoon in men's soccer play. The match was played in heavy rain, and also saw a 30-minute delay due to lightning in the first half. Sophomore forwards Ricky Griffith (Audubon, Pa. / Methacton) and Nick Despirito (Mountain Top, Pa. / Crestwood) scored goals for the Bears.

 

Salisbury 2, Washington College 1
Chase Humphrey scored both Sea Gull goals, including the game-winner on a penalty kick in the 79th minute as visiting Salisbury University overcame an early one-goal lead to top host Washington College, 2-1, in a non-conference men's soccer game tonight on Kibler Field at Roy Kirby, Jr. Stadium. The Sea Gulls improved to 3-0 with the win, while the Shoremen fell to 1-1 with the loss.
