Harris Steps Down as Washington College Swimming Coach

CHESTERTOWN, Md. — Matt Harris is stepping down as head men's and women's swimming coach at Washington College to accept a position at St. Andrew's School in Middletown, Del. Harris spent seven years on the coaching staff for the Shoremen and Shorewomen, including the last three seasons as head coach.

Harris arrived at Washington College during the summer of 2012 and spent three seasons as an assistant coach before being elevated to associate head coach in 2015 and head coach in 2016. 

In three seasons as head coach, Harris led the Shoremen and Shorewomen to a combined total of 28 medals at Centennial Conference Championship meets. During his tenure as an assistant coach, he helped guide the Shoremen to a perfect 10-0 dual meet record during the 2015-16 season. Every single one of the Shoremen's 19 current school records and seven of the Shorewomen's school records were set with Harris on the coaching staff. 

At St. Andrew's School, Harris will be serving as the head swimming coach and Aquatic Director in addition to teaching English.
