Junior Alex Vassila posted her first double-double of the season as she led the Johns Hopkins women's basketball team to a 67-62 win over York (PA) in the season opener for both teams. The Blue Jays used a five point run in the final two minutes of the game to seal the home court victory.
McDaniel 81, Penn State-York 42
McDaniel used a decisive 27-0 run to turn an early 4-0 deficit into 19-point advantage midway through the first half en route to an 81-42 non-conference women's basketball victory over Penn State-York on Wednesday. Steph Perez (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin East), playing in her first game for the Green Terror (1-0) led the way with 14 points. She also added four rebounds, three assists and three steals in the team's most lopsided victory since an 86-47 home win over Haverford on Dec. 8, 2007.
