Saturday's Women's Hoops Recap
Latisha Pledger, Washington College
Washington College 69, Wesley
58
Sophomore forward Latisha
Pledger (Chesapeake, VA/Indian River) had game-highs of 19
points, on 7-for-10 shooting, and 13 rebounds for her ninth career
double-double, and second of the year, as host Washington College
topped visiting Wesley, 69-58, on Saturday evening in
non-conference women's basketball action at the Cain Athletic
Center. The Shorewomen improve to 4-4 overall, while the
Wolverines slip to 1-6.
Muhlenberg 80, Albright 47
Because its bus arrived in Reading well in advance of the
tipoff time against Albright, the Muhlenberg women’s
basketball team killed time by visiting the Fairgrounds Square
Mall. Most of the players chose to hang out in the store Adorable
Pets, where they played with puppies and cuddled with
kittens. Then they went and tamed some Lions. The
12th-ranked Mules (9-0) led from start to finish and defeated
Albright, 80-47, in their last game of 2011 and their final
non-conference game of the season. Muhlenberg returns to action on
January 4, 2012, with a home game against Centennial Conference foe
McDaniel.
McDaniel 61, Susquehanna 52
McDaniel scored 11 of the final 13 first-half points to turn a
one-point deficit into an eight-point advantage at the break en
route to a 61-52 non-conference women's basketball victory over
Susquehanna on Saturday. Freshman Steph
Perez (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin East) made it a perfect
10-for-10 in 2011 reaching double figures and hit 20 points for the
second time in three games, leading the Green Terror (7-3) with a
game-high 20 points. She also chipped in five assists and four
rebounds. Rachael
Rybak (Reisterstown, Md./Franklin) added 13 points and a
career-best eight rebounds to go with a career high-tying four
steals.
