Diplomats Go 2-0 in Puerto Rico

Franklin & Marshall 61, Randolph-Macon 55

Alexa Barbush netted a career-high 26 points to lead the Franklin & Marshall women's basketball team to a 61-55 victory over Randolph-Macon in its opening game of the Puerto Rico Classic on Tuesday afternoon. The Diplomats have now won six straight and improve to 6-2, while the Yellow Jackets drop to 4-5. Barbush set a new career high for the second time in three games to lead all scorers and post her fourth 20-point scoring performance of the season. The junior guard shot 8-of-12 from the field and 10-of-13 from the free throw line for the Diplomats. Megan Pauley also notched a career high on the day with 18 rebounds, while Kristina McCarthy totaled 14 points and eight rebounds and Allison Bauer added 11 points with five boards.

Franklin & Marshall 65, Scranton 58

Alexa Barbush led Franklin & Marshall in scoring for the fourth straight game with a game-high 17 points as the Diplomats took down Scranton, 65-58, in their final game of the Puerto Rico Classic on Wednesday afternoon. The Diplomats (7-2) close out the 2011 portion of their schedule on a seven-game winning streak, while the Lady Royals fall to 5-5. Barbush has now paced F&M in the scoring column in six of its nine contests this season with her 17 points against the Lady Royals. The sophomore guard added five assists, four rebounds and two steals. Allison Bauer also put together an all-around game with 11 points, six rebounds and three assists.
