Mules Open With Win
The starting lineup may have been missing some familiar faces, but the final result looked very much the same for the Muhlenberg women's basketball team. Despite playing without two senior starters, including their all-region point guard, and featuring a lineup that aside from all-CC guard Alexandra Chili had a combined seven career starts, the Mules were able to withstand a strong second-half charge from local rival Moravian to dispatch the Greyhounds, 68-55.

Bullets Tabbed as Preseason Favorite
Gettysburg has been tabbed as the preseason favorite to capture the 2011 Centennial women's basketball championship in a poll of coaches and SIDs. The Bullets, who reached the Sweet 16 last season, received 13 first-place votes (teams not permitted for vote for themselves) and 192 points to nearly edge Muhlenberg, who garnered nine firsts and 188 points. Johns Hopkins (144) was third in the balloting, while Dickinson (141, three firsts) was fourth.

Gettysburg Ranked 16th in Preseason
The Gettysburg College women’s basketball team will begin the year ranked among the nation’s best as the Bullets were tabbed 16th in the NCAA Division III preseason poll conducted by D3hoops.com.
Coming off the best season in school history, Gettysburg was the highest-rated Centennial Conference team in the D3hoops poll with 235 points, finishing behind Messiah College (246 points) and ahead of the University of Mary Washington (213 points). Amherst College received 21 first-place votes to grab the top spot with 621 points.

Muhlenberg junior guard Kelly McKeon, the Centennial Player of the Year, has been named the Mid-Atlantic Region Player of the Year by D3hoops.com. She averaged 13.1 points, 7.3 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 2.3 steals per game in leading the Mules to the CC final.

"Babson College picked up its second consecutive overtime victory in the NCAA Division III Tournament by scoring the final five points to edge Gettysburg College 71-68 inside LaFrak Gym on the campus of Amherst College Friday night. The loss caps a record-breaking season for the Bullets who close with a 24-5 overall mark. Junior Caitlin Moser (Wyomissing, Pa. / Wyomissing) led Gettysburg with 21 points, including the game-tying lay-up with 28 seconds left.
