  • 25 Named to Spring Academic Honor Roll
    (May 12) - Three-hundred twenty-five students, including 25 tennis players, have been named to the Centennial Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll for their performance in the classroom and the field of play. To be nominated for the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll, a student must meet the following criteria: (a) participates in at least 50 percent of contests, matches or meets, or in the Conference varsity championship in golf or outdoor track & field; (b) a sophomore or higher in class standing; (c) cumulative GPA of 3.40 or higher. Fifty-one students also received All-Centennial recognition this including Swarthmore's Rachel Wallwork who was named Player of the Year.

    Hopkins Bounced in NCAA Sweet 16 by CMU
    (May 11) - "The 10th-ranked Johns Hopkins women's tennis team saw its season end at the hands of sixth-ranked Carnegie Mellon Sunday afternoon in the NCAA Sweet 16. The Blue Jays had their school-record 13-match win streak come to an end as they close the season at 14-4. The Tartans improve to 21-2 on the season and advance to the quarterfinals where they will face the winner of the DePauw-Chicago match."

    Three in a Row for Hopkins
    (May 3) - "Just hours after watching the men's tennis team win its third conference title, the 10th-ranked Johns Hopkins women's tennis team turned the same trick. Hopkins beat visiting Washington College, 5-0 on Sunday afternoon to claim its third straight Centennial Conference Championship. The Blue Jays win their school-record 12th straight match and improve 13-3 on the season. The Shorewomen fall to 17-5 on the season with the loss."

    Wallwork Named Player of the Year on All-Centennial Women's Tennis Team
    (April 28) - Swarthmore junior Rachel Wallwork was selected as the Conference's Player of the Year as the 2009 All-Centennial women's tennis team was announced today. She becomes the first back-to-back winner of the award since Muhlenberg's Amy Schmidt in 2005-06. Wallwork is 12-4 on the season and a perfect 8-0 at No. 1 singles in CC play. Johns Hopkins' Brittany Matava became just the sixth player in Conference history to earn first-team All-Centennial honors four times. Ursinus' Sue McDonough was named the Coach of the Year.
