Johnson Double Highlights Day One
(February 28) - On a day that saw four meet records broken and another tied, it was a double win that highlighted the
first day of action at the
16th annual Centennial Conference Indoor Track and Field championships at Ursinus College.
The Bears' Christa Johnson won the mile and 5,000 meters in dramatic fashion, taking the former by 0.13 seconds over
Hopkins' Laura Paulsen and Rachel Hogen. She completed the double with a meet-record in the 5K, hitting the tape in
17:17.29. Muhlenberg's Alex Faust established a meet record in the pole vault (11-0 1/4), while teammate David
Chorney set a new standard in the men's mile in 4:15.40. F&M's Kwaku Anno won the long jump with a meet-record-tying
leap of 23-5 1/4. Haverford's women's relays set two meet marks, winning the 4x200 in Conference-record time of 1:45.70,
while the distance medley relay registered a winning time of 12:23.49. Johns Hopkins leads the women's competition with
53 points with Haverford (38), Dickinson (29.5) and Ursinus (29) in the hunt. The Ford men hold a commanding 80-30 lead
over runnerup Ursinus in their quest for their 15th CC title in 16 years. Action continues Sunday.
