  • Belden, Thomas Earn All-America Track Honors
(May 24) - It was an All-American day for Haverford seniors Jessie Belden and Chaz Thomas as the duo earned national recognition for their performance at the 2009 NCAA Division III Track and Field championships at Marietta College. Belden picked up a pair of All-America certificates, placing third in the heptathlon and fifth in the high jump. She set a Conference record in the heptathlon with 4,800 points and tied a school mark with a leap of 5-5 3/4 in the high jump. Thomas finished fifth in the long jump (23-1 1/4) to become the first Haverford field athlete to earn All-America honors twice.

Haverford Track Reigns in the Rain

The Ford men overtook Dickinson in the final individual event of the afternoon and secured the title with a second-place finish in the 4x400 relay. The Haverford women outpointed runnerup Johns Hopkins by nearly 60 points for the championship. Most Outstanding Performers: (M) Dan O'Toole (track), Adam Waddell and Chaz Thomas (field). (W) Laura Paulsen and Christa Johnson (track) and Jessie Belden (field).
