Belden, Thomas Earn All-America Track Honors
(May 24) - It was an All-American day for Haverford seniors Jessie
Belden and Chaz Thomas as the duo earned national recognition for their
performance at the 2009 NCAA Division III Track and Field championships
at Marietta College. Belden picked up a
pair of All-America certificates, placing third in the heptathlon
and fifth in the high jump. She set a Conference record in the
heptathlon with 4,800 points and tied a school mark with a leap of 5-5
3/4 in the high jump. Thomas finished fifth in the long jump (23-1 1/4)
to become the
first Haverford field athlete to earn All-America honors twice.

Haverford's Belden Named Regional Field Athlete of the Year
(May 21) - "Senior Jessie Belden and assistant coach Doug Mason '81 of
the Haverford College women's outdoor track & field team received
regional honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches
Association on Monday.
Belden was named Mideast Region Field Athlete of
the Year while Mason earned Mideast Region Assistant Coach of the Year
honors."

75 Named to Spring Academic Honor Roll
(May 12) - Three-hundred twenty-five students, including 75 track and field athletes, have been named to the
Centennial Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll for their performance
in the classroom and the field of play. To be nominated for the
Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll, a student must meet the
following criteria: (a) participates in at least 50 percent of contests,
matches or meets, or in the Conference varsity championship in golf or
outdoor track & field; (b) a sophomore or higher in class standing; (c)
cumulative GPA of 3.40 or higher. Fifty-one students also received
All-Centennial recognition this year.

Haverford Track Reigns in the Rain
(May 3) - On a wet, miserable day in Lancaster, the Haverford men's and women's
track teams shone, defending their Centennial Conference outdoor championships.
The men extended their CC winning streak to 16 consecutive years, while the women won their fourth straight crown. The Ford men overtook Dickinson in the final individual event of the afternoon and secured the title with a second-place finish in the 4x400 relay. The Haverford women outpointed runnerup Johns Hopkins by nearly 60 points for the championship. Most Outstanding Performers: (M) Dan O'Toole (track), Adam Waddell and Chaz Thomas (field).
