  • 13 Named to Winter Academic Honor Roll
    (April 2) - Two-hundred thirty-four students from seven different winter sports, including 13 wrestlers, have been named to the Centennial Conference Winter Academic Honor Roll. To be nominated for the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll, a student must meet the following criteria: (a) participates in at least 50 percent of contests, matches or meets, or in the Conference varsity championship in swimming, indoor track & field or wrestling; (b) a sophomore or higher in class standing; (c) cumulative GPA of 3.40 or higher. Gettysburg's Andrew Goldstein was honored as the Wrestler of the Year, while McDaniel's Brock Glotfelty also was an All-Conference selection.

    Five Named NWCA Academic All-Americans
    (March 10) - The National Wrestling Coaches Association released its 2009 Academic All-America list and five Centennial wrestlers made the grade. Gettysburg's Andrew Goldstein, the Conference's Wrestler of the Year, is the headliner and is joined on the list by teammate Patrick Doherty. Johns Hopkins' Rocky Barilla, Stevens' Leo Dormann and Ursinus' James Bloom were also selected by the NWCA. Washington & Lee had the third-highest team GPA in Division III, while Johns Hopkins was 16th.

    Kein, Glotfelty Finish 8th at NCAA Wrestling
    (March 8) - Muhlenberg 149 Rob Kein and McDaniel 285 Brock Glotfelty each finished eighth in their respective weight classes, earning All-America honors at the 2009 NCAA Division III Wrestling Championship in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Kein is the fourth Mule since 2001 to earn All-America laurels, while Glotfelty became the eighth Green Terror to receive the honor.

    Merchant Marine Repeats as Team Champion
    (February 21) - The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy defended its Centennial Conference championship winning six of the 10 weight classes. The Mariners easily outpointed Ursinus, 116-66, with McDaniel (54) and Muhlenberg (53.5) rounding out the top half. Muhlenberg's Rob Kein was the at-large selection to the NCAA tournament. Gettysburg's Andrew Goldstein and Ursinus' Steve Kingsland were the co-recipients of the Chris Clifford Memorial Award, given to the seniors with the most accumulated points at the CC tournament during their career.

    Gettysburg's Andrew Goldstein Named Wrestler of the Year
    (February 19) - Gettysburg senior 157-pounder Andrew Goldstein has been selected as the Centennial's Wrestler of the Year in balloting by the Conference's eight head coaches. Goldstein has a perfect 21-0 on the season, including a 7-0 record in CC bouts, with eight falls and two tecnhical falls to his credit. He has 97 career wins and looks to reach the 100-victory plateau this weekend at the Conference championship tournament. Stevens head coach Mike Clayton was chosen as the Conference's Coach of the Year by his peers.
